How to Download e-PAN card | PAN becomes even more important for salaried employees

Apart from Aadhar card, PAN card is also one of the important documents for any Indian citizen. PAN becomes even more important for salaried employees, as it is required for filing Income Tax Returns (ITR). A valid PAN card is also asked for while opening a bank account for demat account. Not only this, banks also ask for PAN card for depositing more than Rs 50,000 in a bank account at a time.

This is also necessary because the government keeps track of the financial transactions of citizens using PAN cards. However, sometimes, it is not possible to give a physical card. For such times, you must have an e-PAN. If you have an e-PAN card, then you do not have the fear of losing it. So let’s know how to get e-PAN card. The process to download e-PAN card is easy.

Steps to download e-PAN Card

  • Go to
  • Click on ‘Apply for PAN’ and fill the details.
  • Enter the captcha and click on ‘Submit’.
  • Now you will be given the option to preview the details. After verifying, click on ‘Generate OTP’.
  • Enter the OTP received on the registered mobile number.
  • Click on ‘Paid e-PAN download facility’.
  • Select the payment method and pay Rs.9.
  • After payment, click on ‘Continue’.
  • Now, download the payment receipt for PAN card online.
  • Finally, your e-PAN card will be automatically downloaded on your mobile or PC.

The PDF of the downloaded e-PAN card will be password protected. To open it one has to enter his/her date of birth, which acts as the password, Like DDMMYYYY format.
